I didn't know I needed names for the stories we live in. It's so helpful to frame the different aspects of life we're living in this way. Thanks for the reminder that we can choose a different story if we're spending way too much time in one that feels overwhelming. This reminds me of a life-changing essay I read called, The New Story, by Thomas Berry in a collection called The Riverdale Papers. From memory it began, <It’s all a question of story. We’re in trouble right now because we do not have a good story.>. This was more than 40 years ago. Berry’s test for a best story was a functional test: how does the story allow civilization function to serve all beings in a wholistic manner. He called it a functional cosmology.

Thanks Laurent, I appreciate you introducing me to the Thomas Berry essay. He was right 40 years ago and we still don’t have a good shared story.

Functional cosmology , I like that as I have been looking at world events more from a cosmic view, as a way of coping and making sense.
