Enjoy your rest Susan, I also take a break in August and like you and so many other women, recognise that we have been 'programmed' to think we should do more, set goals, work towards an 'achievenent' when all the truly wise spiritual teachers (as opposed to modern-day capitalists dressed up as 'coaches' constantly pushing for 'growth') have always spoken of time for stillness, a wintering phase and recognition of the maturation of a being. There are many women who have resisted this internalised patriarchal residue and who advocate for a more sensual approach to life, aligned with Mother Nature as a brilliant guide.... At the end of every day we are invited through our circadian rhythm to rest/dream/sleep and explore our threshold to the "turiya" state of pure consciousness. We're evolved as organisms to rest every day. Karen Brody from "Daring to Rest" has a lot of free resources to check out. I wish you a wonderful rest time and trust that you will be able to hear what's coming through in your next phase of being! You are enough, we are enough, there is enough! ππΌ
Thanks Dot, there is certainly a lot to unpack on βrestβ, and itβs great that you and others especially Women are breaking with the Capitalist Grind imperative. If only for a short time, it is dismantling old patterns of extraction and exploitation .
I saw this quote this morning βHumanβs express value through action.β Which encapsulates it all , that we only have value in the doing not the being.
I have much gratitude for the wisdom of wise , spiritual teachers both ancient and current. Including you Dear Dot and Karen Brody who encourage rest, ease and flow. I have her book, so will read it whilst in the sun or on the sofaβ¦and any other resources she offers, this is such a rich topic and always something to learn or be reminded off.
I wish you a fabulous rest, especially in a tender time when much comfort and care is called for. π
P. S. growth outwards requires us to be consumers, inner/spiritual growth requires something of letting go of attachment to outward tokens of apparent success.
Marvelous, Susan! After two months enjoying a blessed rest, I feel like I just drove my vintage roadster out from the pits back into the racing lanes, all gassed up with new tires. Excited to get back to writing, and thankful for the break. Enjoy your downtime!
Yes, maxed as always! Really glad you're having fun... I love Sidmouth Folk Festival... only been once... and have been meaning to go each time it's come round, since being close enough... but, it's not been possible... if you give me a couple of weeks notice next year, perhaps we could meet up there for a meander round the town, to soak up what's happening everywhere? Hope you're really enjoying it. x x x
Thanks Diana ππ»

Hi Susan,
Believe it or not, I do find ways to rest, relax and restore.
My writing feels like something driven, so I honour that.
Thanks for caring, Susan, and I hope you have a lovely, restorative time.
